Some photos for my first short movie

Postby Giuseppe-Motta » Fri Jan 22, 2010 3:25 pm

Hello to everybody,
I don't know if it is the right place to post it.
I would like to have some critics to my first short movie, from Roger and from everybody.
I post some screenshots in low resolution, I lost quite a bit of magenta when I converted these images in jpeg. Anyway I still didn´t apply any color grading, but when I will finish the editing I will repost the whole short and in better video quality.
I used a Sony EX3 with RedoRockmicro 35mm adapter, Zeiss lenses.

Thanks to everyone

Cheers,
Giuseppe

Heya,

I like the atmosphere most of the time, but...

did your first AC fell asleep anytime? Often out of focus
did you have enough budget for light? Often underexposed

I know it is hard working with bad 35mm-adapter-stuff, you loose something like 1 1/2 or 2 stops with this redrock-stuff. I think, your movie would look better without the extras, only using the EX3, which is a nice camera (have the EX1 on my own for documentary-stuff). Or shooting on s16mm, which is not as expensive as many producers or filmstudents think :)

Eheh, no, but this is the problem with the 35mm adapter, often I had often backfocus problem and there was no way to get off from this.
Then we used a promist filter that gave us more blurry effect.

I worked with very low budget light, I didn't have enough light, this is true.

The camera is very nice but you should know that its DOF is not the best, especially for close up
Hey, thanks for the comments :)
As you said 16mm is not so expensive, but we wanted to try the EX with 35mm adapter on.

Hi,
I hope to don't go to much OT with this thread, maybe it is the wrong place to post here,
but I would like discuss about my first short film and improve it, maybe Roger will find a better place to move this
thread, I don't want to annoy anyone.

Which one do you prefer?
My first goal was to give an atmosphere to this movie.

These are underexposed

because they are a consequence of this silhouette:

The others I don't think are underexposed, they are just dark because they are candle shots,
don't you agree?

About this I would like to know the opinion of Roger too.

Here, she is out of focus because the corner of the bed is in focus

When she will stand up I put her in focus.
And, Marco, you are right, we have to watch everything in movements, everything will change,
they are not still images.
I just posted here beause I would like to have some feadback before we finish the editing and the post.

But again with the 35mm adapter I had hard issues with back focus.
The images are not out of focus, they are just not really sharp due the adapter.

Thanks,
Giuseppe
